This guy's got a definite problem. A funny (though rather cynical) and borderline surreal one from 1957: John Doormat in Topsy TV.
This one played off the TV boom of the '50s. It was apparently released for theatrical use, because it's in (very) wide-screen CinemaScope. Interesting abstract-style animation, too.
