Glad you liked it! :D And thanks for the background information. I was vaguely aware that it was based on an old story, but didn't know any of the details. And yes, these cartoons do have a special, indefinable feeling about them.

Here's a nice Terrytoon from 1944, The Helicopter. The cat is funny. :D The only thing I don't understand is, how did that quaint, tiny shop in the sleepy village turn into a massive multi-storied department store? :?:

You trying to tell me you didn't hear that shriek? That was something trying to get out of its premature grave, and I don't want to be here when it does. - Phantom of the Paradise (1974)

Johnny Fedora and Alice Bluebonnet. Weirdly, I could not find this on YouTube! It used to be there! I'm thankful for Daily Motion!

Edit 3/6/23: It's on there now!
Time to bump this lovely cartoon. Who knew that one could become so invested in the love story of two hats?

This guy's got a definite problem. :D A funny (though rather cynical) and borderline surreal one from 1957: John Doormat in Topsy TV.

This one played off the TV boom of the '50s. It was apparently released for theatrical use, because it's in (very) wide-screen CinemaScope. Interesting abstract-style animation, too.

It was a real 5 year old who did baby plucky's voice. He's soooo cute!

I'm bumping this from the Word Association thread a long ways back. One of my favorites to watch each year along about this time. :D
