I can only afford $998.... Just a tad out of range for me!
Yeah, well, you gotta stay in budget. ;) I think the thing here is that Mickey Mantle is on the front, though still...

Another variety pack ad. This is a nice one from 1955. (I'll take the Shredded Wheat, please. Or the Raisin Bran. Or Corn Flakes. :) )

I'd have taken the Frosted Flakes, though lately those sugary cereals have been making me feel kind of sick after eating.

Looks pretty good, doesn't it? :)

I wonder what the reason was for putting a minuscule value on coupons (1/20¢, for example).

According to this Mental Floss article, it originated from state laws requiring a cash redemption value for trading stamps.

As a kid I thought Cracklin' Bran looked like dog food. Its sequel, Cracklin' Oat Bran, tasted a little better but was still no substitute for Fortified Oat Flakes, which I loved.

I've never had any of the three. I'd probably have liked Cracklin' Bran. But then I seem to be one of the few people who like Shredded Wheat. :P

I started to read that, but had to stop, and I totally forgot to go back to it. Thanks for posting!!
Your first hand experience with this cereal is interesting. It looks pretty tasty to me!

It was very solid and non-permeable, like giant mutant Grape-Nuts. I guess that's why they had to make it ring-shaped, for the milk to get in.
