Here's a nice one I picked up from an antique store today. I liked how the little rhyme on the front made me feel --- they're a very calming few lines. It's from 1909. Can you read the message? Wonder who it was from?
"dear little old thing
what are you doing today mama is
lots better went to
Franny's today they
are well your papa is (puny but?) not serious
it won't be long till
I see you ha ha aint
that good every thing
looks awful pretty
around home lets here
from you and what day you will be here to
see mama"

Re: Postcards
That’s a nice little relic from the past. I like the rhyme, too—very true!
You wonder how a thing like that survived all those years without being discarded somewhere along the way...and how and when and why it traveled all that distance. And I wonder what the writer and recipient would think about it’s turning up in an antique shop 111 years later...

Re: Postcards
I wonder if 'mama' got better or if it was just a little case of the sniffles. It seems like such a modern note, doesn't it? I think I'll start collecting some nice postcards that strike me.... And share them here!
You trying to tell me you didn't hear that shriek? That was something trying to get out of its premature grave, and I don't want to be here when it does. - Phantom of the Paradise (1974)
