Beautiful Ads
Re: Beautiful Ads
The only time I've been on a train was in England. It was an overbooked very noisy train. At least my friend let me sit on the only available seat while he sat on the floor.
You trying to tell me you didn't hear that shriek? That was something trying to get out of its premature grave, and I don't want to be here when it does. - Phantom of the Paradise (1974)
Re: Beautiful Ads
I wish there was passenger train service now like there used to be in this country. It looks as if it would have been a really nice way to travel.
Here's another nice one. I love the art deco kind of shape of that locomotive.

Re: Beautiful Ads
I always wondered what it could have been like to ride a real passenger train as they always did in old films from the 40s. How cosy it might have been to have your own cabin, like in Harry Potter or something.

Re: Beautiful Ads
I think trains are really cool. Have you seen the film La Roue yet?

Re: Beautiful Ads
No, I've not even heard of it. But a lot of things pass me by.
Here's a Sealtest ad from 1954. Doesn't this look yummy? And I don't even eat sweets, but I think I want some of this sherbet now.

Re: Beautiful Ads
Oooo. I love that stuff. Now I'm hungry.
I've mentioned La Roue a few times on the forum. It's a 4 hour long French silent from 1923. The guy's a railroad engineer. It's really a beautiful film, although I had to watch it in intervals because of the length.

Re: Beautiful Ads
Oh goodness, don’t know why I don’t remember that being discussed. I thought maybe it was a current film. I’ll have to check that out.
Re: Beautiful Ads
I thought this one was very pretty!

Re: Beautiful Ads
Yes! Isn't that beautifully designed?—the whole ad, including the circular area and the font used at lower left.
