Film Company Ads
Re: Film Company Ads
I always wanted to see this film. The one time they showed it on TCM in recent history, I missed it.

I'd like to see that one too! I guess it's not on YouTube?

Only some short clips. If you remember, there was a scene from this in the last of the Hollywood chapters on the coming of sound—to illustrate how stilted the dialogue was in some of the early talkies.BettyLouSpence wrote: ↑Mon Jun 15, 2020 3:46 pmI'd like to see that one too! I see—thanks! Remembering that stilted dialogue just makes me want to see it more

Looks epic! Actually, I want to see this based on the ad.

Mabel in Sis Hopkins, 1919. Apparently a lost film.
This seems to be such a common plot situation in early films, both comedies and dramas: unsophisticated rural girl who comes to the city. (Also the gist of Mabel's other feature Mickey.) I guess it must have actually been a common situation in real life—?
