I always wanted to see this film. The one time they showed it on TCM in recent history, I missed it.

Only some short clips. If you remember, there was a scene from this in the last of the Hollywood chapters on the coming of sound—to illustrate how stilted the dialogue was in some of the early talkies.

Mabel in Sis Hopkins, 1919. Apparently a lost film. :cry:

This seems to be such a common plot situation in early films, both comedies and dramas: unsophisticated rural girl who comes to the city. (Also the gist of Mabel's other feature Mickey.) I guess it must have actually been a common situation in real life—?
