Film Company Ads
Re: Film Company Ads
Here are three for a Viola Dana feature from 1917. This is apparently extant, as there are some legitimate looking reviews on iMDB. Certainly looks dramatic!

Re: Film Company Ads
Here are some Lux Films ads. They had some clever ads! I like the alliteration in each.

You trying to tell me you didn't hear that shriek? That was something trying to get out of its premature grave, and I don't want to be here when it does. - Phantom of the Paradise (1974)
Re: Film Company Ads
Cool! I want to see all these films. As for the ads, I definitely find them all quite quaintly quickwitted!
Re: Film Company Ads
My, my. Sounds enticing, doesn't it? (Though Myrtle Turner's cup of tea—well, it most certainly would not be.) I'll bet it was indeed mavelous.
It also sounds a lot like the plot of the Edith Storey film Dust of Egypt. It also stars both Norma Talmadge and Flora Finch (playing one "Hagar"). A motley combo, no?

This looks like an interesting one. I wonder what society wolves are exactly. That looks like Milton Sills holding the pistol.

Are YOU in on the Florence Turner money?

Re: Film Company Ads
Oops! Thanks. I was fiddling around with the image trying to get it bigger and somehow posted without it at all. Here it is. This image is nice and big on my computer, but it shows up much smaller here. Then I thought, well, I'll just take a screenshot of the open large image and post that. But it shows up small, also. I've not figured out the secret of getting an image to show up the size you want.

Re: Film Company Ads
It's funny, that headline doesn't seem to be posed as a question. It's more like 'oh, boy! Are you in on the Florence Turner money!!'
Can you imagine going to the movie to see multiple shorts (with big actors in them) as well as the feature film? The closest thing that I've ever seen as shorts before the film are those Pixar shorts. Have you ever gone to the movies and seen cartoons or other shorts before the movies?
