I guess it's similar to the term "Lucy Stoner", which refers to a woman who kept her maiden name after marriage, like Lucy Stone, who didn't change it after marrying Henry Blackwell in the 1850s.

I wouldn't be surprised! I bet the stars in general would get some pretty wild letters—I wonder if there was a separate pile the secretaries made called "marriage proposals"

As to whether Clara humored this guys request, I have no clue
