You trying to tell me you didn't hear that shriek? That was something trying to get out of its premature grave, and I don't want to be here when it does. - Phantom of the Paradise (1974)
Re: Favorite photos of silent stars
Isn't that a fresh, natural photo? The pose is just perfect.
Re: Favorite photos of silent stars
An interesting one of Mabel Normand in a short called Anything Goes (1927).

Yes, that is interesting! I've never seen that one, nor have I heard of the film.
And that brings up a question I was going to ask in my review of Orphans of the Storm and forgot to mention. Is that exaggerated, or did they really wear wigs stacked that high in the 18th century? I guess they must have, though I don't see how they could have avoided toppling over from top-heaviness.

Wow! I love her hair in that one. Her eyes also look more natural here—not quite as kohl-rimmed as usual.

They look like their antics would get old real quick.

What a great candid! Do you know when this was taken?
Also, that photo of Theda Such a beautiful portrait, and well put together.

I wish my life was a non-stop Hollywood movie show
a fantasy world of celluloid villains and heroes
Because celluloid heroes never feel any pain
and celluloid heroes never really die...
