You trying to tell me you didn't hear that shriek? That was something trying to get out of its premature grave, and I don't want to be here when it does. - Phantom of the Paradise (1974)
Re: Food Commercials
So I was watching a Carson episode from 1971, and there was this commercial https://youtu.be/qCzUKeztFpQBettyLouSpence wrote: ↑Wed Jun 17, 2020 3:01 pmIt looks like Uncle Ben may be getting an update as well.
presented by Ed. Well, first thing I noticed is that the Uncle Ben image isnt there!
And this is when I learned that in 1971 the image was removed, and stayed off of the brand's packaging until 1983!

Huh, I had no idea about that. Thanks for that info!
I wish my life was a non-stop Hollywood movie show
a fantasy world of celluloid villains and heroes
Because celluloid heroes never feel any pain
and celluloid heroes never really die...

I'll bet that sold some of that stuff, though.
Re: Food Commercials
That one is odd! I never saw such a snappy Budweiser commercial!
The singer on the phone reminds me of Steve Martin.

Yes, he does look like Steve Martin!
So many questions here: Why is Ed conducting from the piano when he never plays? Why does somebody keep calling while they are playing? And why does he answer? And why is there a phone there? Mysteries, mysteries...

Here's a commercial for Tang from 1973. It's not particularly special, except the caption says that she is Gail Theis, PhD from Saddle River, NJ. That's the town over from where my mom grew up, (Saddle Brook) and we used to go to Saddle Brook pretty frequently when I was growing up.
