Magazine Ads
Re: Magazine Ads
According to patent records, they were in business at least since 1905 and at least as late as '25.

What website did you get that from? That could be a great resource.

Re: Magazine Ads
I just Googled the name of the company, and results regarding patents turned up in Google Books, to wit the 1905 Annual Report of the Commissioner of Patents and the Official Gazette of the United States Patent Office from 1925.
I also now see that there is an 1884 company stock certificate for sale on ebay.

Re: Magazine Ads
So, I guess 'rocker' hair was unsexy to Brylcreem. Selection B on the 'not sexy' side totally reminds me of John Lennon. And selection B is just.... NOT SEXY no matter which era you're in, Bryllie.
As a final comment, Brylcreem must have loved The Beach Boys, because any one of those on the 'sexy' side could have been a member of the group.

Re: Magazine Ads
I do think the ones on the left look better, for the most part. But Brylcreem was trying desperately to hang onto its business in an era when hair tonic was going out, I guess.
By the way, one of the commenters on the page where I got this thought selection B was "a-dork-able." I guess that's a compliment??
