Rose Festival Princess 1954

Post by Kitty » Thu Jan 03, 2019 12:33 am

Let me know if I've posted this before.
This is an interesting recording of first the introduction of one of the 1954 Rose Festival Princesses in Portland, Oregon, and second, her acceptance speech. Notice (you'd be hard pressed not to!) how pronounced her words are throughout the speech. She practiced and worked on this very hard!
The boy.... perhaps not as much. 🙂🙂🙂

Some info of note in this Wikipedia page explaining what this festival is (history section especially):

I'm sure you've not posted this before. That's quite a thing in Portland, isn't it, according to the article?
(I can't access the mp3s. It asks for a login.)

Oopsies! I forgot about that. I have it saved, so I didn't even think about it!

You really can imagine her stance! I imagine her with a big, jubilant smile, head high, high up, and she might even have her arms outstretched to her loyal subjects.

Yes, I picture her using gestures similar to Will Hays in the Vitaphone speech. :)
