I didn't hear him say he'd gotten a glance at him. I just thought that curiosity got the best of him and he had to know.
I rewatched that part. He said "Can I disqualify myself? I gotta look at him.'" I misunderstood it as "I got a look at him."

I don't know if you've seen this one, but this is a really funny segment, courtesy of Steve Allen. Embedding disabled, but here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8RSao1JP5BU

Here's a fantastic picture someone shared of Arlene Francis on the What's My Line Facebook page. I really think that dark hair was so becoming on her.

How about that! Yes, I think so, too.

Here's a cool Popular Science article that someone posted on the What's My Line Facebook page. It's from 1955, entitled How To Use TV Lighting.

How about that! :D Most interesting. These principles could still be applied today, I guess.

I have seen also a lot in the old PS mags articles about how to photograph images from the TV screen. There seemed to be quite a good bit of interest in getting good photos of an actor, scene, etc., in the early days of television for some reason.

I just watched the 1956 episode with mystery guest Floyd Patterson. I really love that Arlene seems genuinely starstruck when she discovers who the mystery guest is. ❤ https://youtu.be/sn-C9UUJQqs

That was a good episode—interesting guests. Vincent Price must have spoken several languages fluently.

How did they not know it was him with that unmistakeable accent?!

I wondered that myself. I thought he'd given himself away for sure by the second or third answer. But somehow they didn't get it.
