Vintage Photos at Random
Re: Vintage Photos at Random
The first drive-in ever in California. It was in Los Angeles, called the Pico Drive-In, and erected in September 1934. It was the 4th drive-in ever in the USA, too!! Have you ever been to a drive-in? I was fortunate to have gone to one once. I saw Click. The movie was nothing grand, obviously, but it's cool to have had the experience.

You trying to tell me you didn't hear that shriek? That was something trying to get out of its premature grave, and I don't want to be here when it does. - Phantom of the Paradise (1974)

I love that! "See and Hear Talking Pictures"...
Yes, I went to a drive-in movie once. I can't remember what the movie was, but I remember that it was a neat experience.

Man, that's weird. And what an odd looking "princess".
Re: Vintage Photos at Random
I'm loving this old picture of auditions for a black cat in Hollywood!

Re: Vintage Photos at Random
I wonder how they chose? I'll bet the auditioners got tired of seeing black cats.

Re: Vintage Photos at Random
Mmmmm...not really. It was an interesting phenomenon, but...well, I don't know, in retrospect it would have been interesting to be there just because it was such an iconic historical event, but on the other hand, too much drug use, etc....
The dentist I used to go to was at Woodstock, oddly enough. I remember talking to him about it years ago, but I can't remember exactly what he said about it.
How about you? Would you have liked to be there?

I would have LOVED to be there. That type of crowd is often the most amazing type of people. Also, I'd have loved to see Janis Joplin in concert.

Re: Vintage Photos at Random
I've never been a fan of Janis Joplin (or of Jimi Hendrix, either, to name another icon). (Heresy, I know! Don't hate! ) But I might have liked some of the other bands that were there.
