Yes, either of those would have made more sense than Carolyn. Of course, this was necessitated by the aging, so it was Carolyn who was handy, rather than David. That doesn't excuse his refusal of Julia, though.Kitty wrote: ↑Wed Sep 14, 2022 7:43 pmIf he was going to use a family member for a servant, why didn't he just bite David long ago? That way he wouldn't have been a problem to him, and David's change wouldn't have been so glaring since no one pays attention to him, anyway.
Another thing, why did he not bite Hoffman, after all if he was going to fire her anyway? His excuse that he might need her doctor expertise is cancelled out when he tries to tell her he won't need her anymore.
One thing interesting, Barnabas didn’t have nearly that much control over either Maggie or Willie after they were first bitten. (If I remember right, Maggie was just kind of out of it, in a continual daze, and Willie was in a state of high terror and almost too weak to stand.) Nancy Grayson did a good acting job here, changing her whole personality at the end.
But it’s going to be really hard to think of Carolyn as no longer herself, but Barnabas’s flunky.
Did you hear that strange conversation going on in the background at the end? It started after the clock struck 2:30 and continued on for awhile. If so, what do you think that was? If not, if you have time, listen to that part again. Maybe it's just in my copy. Or maybe it's just in my head.
One other thought: At the beginning they must have reused the scene of Barnabas biting Carolyn and just spliced it into 351. Usually they reenact the cliff hanger from the last episode, but I’m wondering if they reused the tape here because it would have been difficult to get the makeup off Jonathan Frid that fast. These shows were taped in one go, and the camera didn’t stop for anything. (That’s why there are so many bloopers.)
