I'm currently watching this. It's enlightening. It's called America's Crises; 1; The Young Americans, and is from 1964.

I just finished The Young Americans. It gives you a different look at what it really was to be a college age student in 1964. I love that it is so down-to-earth, and rather than portraying people of that age to be all beatniks or constantly attending wild parties, they show them as real thinking adults. The kids share some interesting ways of thinking, and some deep inner thoughts and concerns that they had at the time.

The March of Time; Autumn. This is an interesting documentary about Autumn in 1952. I like to see these "in the moment" documentaries, rather than documentaries made 40 years later that are scrubbed and cleaned as if it was the good-old-days.

An outtake video from the Houston Fire Department. I think this one is worth it just to see the parade footage, and a few interesting floats --- note the Snoopy/Charlie Brown one! A lot of the footage is throw-away footage; it's easy to see why some of these clips didn't make into the finished product -- whatever it was. Sorry, it doesn't have sound attached to it, but at a mere 9 minutes, it's just nice to watch it quietly. It gives it a little bit of an eerie, mysterious air. From 1967 here is ---- The Houston Fire Department.

The Sense of Poetry - Episode 2, The Ecstasy (Part One). This poem really moved me. I have heard of John Donne, of course, but I've never read him. I gather that this is an extremely famous poem. What really caught my eye was the middle part when he starts talking about our bodies as a sphere. It's a moving way to talk about the skin we're in. Have you read this one? I've only watched two of these episodes, but I really love it. It's a great introduction to discussing poetry.

No, I've not read that Donne poem before. It's an interesting one, if a little hard to understand. Yes, I liked the part you refer regarding the bodies as a sphere. You're getting into some heavy-duty poetry there with John Donne. :)

I never knew how amazing he was! He lived 1572-1631. I think it's pretty modern sounding.

A Turkey's-eye View of Thanksgiving, originally broadcast in 1970. Some of this is very strange, but a lot of it is quite informative!
