The infamous Faith Bacon fan dance

Post by dachshundonstilts »

As mentioned in one of the other sections, this is a 1942 performance of the act that got "Earl Carroll's Vanities" in New York raided and three people charged with obscenity in 1930 or thereabouts. If this was what it looked like in 1930, then I must agree it was risqué. View at your own risk, parental guidance suggested, on your head be it.

Sadly, Faith Bacon committed suicide in 1956 at age 46 by jumping from a building in Chicago.

Yep, they would have raided a club for that in 1930. :)

I wonder what kind of outfit "Official Films" was. I noticed at the end that it was "licensed solely for non-theatrical and home use." I wonder if this was one of those companies that put ads in magazines for "spicy" films.

I'd always been aware of Faith Bacon and her tragic life story, but for some reason had never seen any film footage of her. Thanks for sharing!
I wish my life was a non-stop Hollywood movie show
a fantasy world of celluloid villains and heroes
Because celluloid heroes never feel any pain
and celluloid heroes never really die...

Amazing! She is so gorgeous, and the dance is done in an artful way in my opinion. Thank you for sharing!

I had never heard of Faith Bacon before; how sad to hear about her end!
