The most major inspiration is the rubber-hose animation style which they incorporated into the game. I'm also fairly certain some bosses borrow movements from characters in the cartoon (for example, the little hand-dance Cagney Carnation performs when idle beginning at 4:57 in the video below, is taken from the ghost that appears at 3:37 in the Swing You Sinners video I posted).

And yes, the animation in the game is all hand-drawn. A lot of labor and love went into it!

Yes, I see all sorts of similarities with the cartoon in the appearance and movements of the characters. That’s a really neat looking game. :)

I like the Grampy character. I didn't know there were any other cartoons with him aside from the Christmas one where he helps the orphans.

When I see that character, I always think of the old board. The orphan one was a favorite of the assistant admin and he posted it every Christmas.
