Weird Cartoons VHS

Post by Kitty »

This is it. Johnny Legend Presents Weird Cartoons. This is volume 1. Looks like there were two volumes of this, and the only list of cartoons that I could find (only some are listed on the back of the tape) was for the DVD compilation Complete Weird Cartoons. That's ok, though, because I think the DVD is just the two VHS tapes put together on one disc. Here is the program listing:

Alice's Egg Plant - Walt Disney (1925)
Frogland - Wladyslaw Starewics - Russian Art Society of Paris (1922)
Alice the Toreador - Walt Disney (1925)
Hold Anything - Isadore Freleng & Norm Blackburn (1930)
Betty Boop's Crazy Inventions - Max Fleischer (1933)
Inki and the Minah Bird - Merrie Melodies (1943)
Betty Boop in Crazy Town - Max Fleischer (1932)
Little Black Sambo - Ub Iwerks (1935)
In A Cartoon Studio - Jungle Jinks (1931)
It's A Bird - Charley Bowers in a Lowell Thomas Tall Story (1930)
Intermissions - (vintage movie theater intermissions)
Non-Stop Fright - Felix the Cat (1927)
Scrap Happy Daffy - Daffy Duck (1943)
Scrub Me Mamma With A Boogie Beat - Walter Lanz (1941)
Hasher's Delirium - Emile Cohl (1910)
Small Fry - Max Fleischer (1939)
The Devil's Ball - Wladyslaw Starewicz (1933)
Cobweb Hotel - Max Fleischer (1936)

Here is a picture of the VHS I had.

P.S. I know that Bambi Meets Godzilla was on here. It's either not on this DVD, or it's lumped in with the intermission short. I'm pretty sure that everything else is on this DVD, because all the really weird stuff that I remember is named.
You trying to tell me you didn't hear that shriek? That was something trying to get out of its premature grave, and I don't want to be here when it does. - Phantom of the Paradise (1974)

That looks really interesting. I wonder if the dvd compilation is available. I can't think that I've seen any of these, though I'm familar with the work of some like Ub Iwerks, Wladyslaw Starewicz, etc.

Well I hope they didn't leave out Bambi. That would seem to be a an absolute requirement in any weird cartoon collection, just from the title!

Have you never seen Bambi Meets Godzilla? You're in for a treat. Here it is, from 1969.
