I couldn't find this posted on here---I can't believe I haven't already posted it! This is one of my very very favorite cartoons. It's Little Audrey Tarts and Flowers.

Wow, that's a great one! I love the little cake man and all his friends. Thanks for posting it.

The voice and laugh of the Devil Food Cake sounds so familiar—I wonder if that's the same voice actor who did Brutus in some of the Popeye cartoons.

Good post. Believe it or not, this one popped into my head last night, and I went and rewatched it. It's a classic. I always wondered, though, where all the adults were. Didn't someone have to run the orphanage??

Donnie, is this the cartoon you were talking about where the books come to life? I think there is another similar one as well.

I love that one—thanks for finding it! :D

I'm not sure if this is the one I'm thinking of or not. It seems like the books awoke at night after everybody was gone in the one I remember, and I don't recall the town crier or the celebrities—but then I could be confusing it with Bottles. Not sure, it's been so long since I saw it.

Did you see the Cab Calloway part in this one at 2:23? (though with some regrettable racial stereotyping  )

I didn't have time to watch the cartoon. I will very soon.
I wonder if the cartoon you speak of is another Looney Toons one called Book Revue?

On the other hand, maybe it's not. The one I remember doesn't have Daffy as far as I remember, and I don't really remember any celebrities in it, either.
Yet again, I'll add that it has been so long since I saw the cartoon (and can't watch it right now!) that my memory could be faulty.

 That's a funny one, but no, I don't think that's it either. I only have a vague memory of it, but I think I'd recognize it if I saw it. It may be an older one, like from the 30s.
