Since we were talking about Gumby, I decided to watch some tonight. This particular episode is from 1988. I only found this out because I learned that Minga and Denali, who are in this episode, were introduced in that year.
I found this interesting for two reasons.
1. It's obviously a show for small children, but the imminent danger is pretty strong! I was actually worried for the crew!
2. The music is wonderful!

Ok I'm in love with Gumby now! Here's the very first episode ever of Gumby from 1956! Its called Moon Trip, and what's striking me about these cartoons are how involved they are. So much happens, and it's so interesting all the way through.

The second episode of Gumby is, of course, very interesting! This one involves Mirrorland. My favorite is the short stubby Gumby.

This episode, episode 3, is significant because it is the first appearance of Pokey and the Blockheads. (That would be a cool band name, don't you think? :))
A couple of things stood out to me in this episode. When the TV is too loud, Mother tells Gumby to "Turn it softer." I've never heard it put that way before. After that, Gumby asks his mother, "Can I have milk and a cracker?" A cracker?! What a weirdo! I'm picturing milk and a saltine. Ick!
This is to say nothing about the apparent lava surrounding Mother's sink. This episode has some fun stuff in it, with the saloon door bit, and the fun exchange of names part. Here it is, Little Lost Pony.
Enjoy! šŸŒž

Episode 4 has Gumby going to Pokey's farm, and involves a gopher that's bigger than Pokey! For some reason, Gumby, who lives in the suburbs knows more about farming than the old farmer man.

Episode 5 is kind of weird. It doesn't make much sense, as the black knight challenges a little boy in a jousting competition! One thing I did note was that the black knight sounds very familiar, possibly someone from Cinnamon Bear. Tell me what you think.

These are interestingā€”I'm not too familiar with the early ones that were made in the 50's. Gumby was actually made of moldable clay in those and looked more homemade. He is more svelte and uniform in shape later. The Moon Trip is a weird one. Groovy space music. I liked the Mirrorland the best. The black knight's voice does sound familiar, but I can't remember which character in CB sounds like that.

I think I might have been thinking it sounds like Nicky Freudl, but I now think I was just way off. I don't think that sounds anything like Nicky Freudl, and am sure I was just plain, flat out, irrevocably. WRONG!!!!! (that sounds like a gong). It definitely sounds nothing like anyone from Cinnamon Bear.

His voice does sound familiar, somehow. He sounds almost like one of the radio operators Tex used to talk to on Magic Island.
