Mel Blanc: The Man With 1000 Voices

Post by Kitty »

I love Mel Blanc, as I know most people do! He voiced so many characters. I think the only living voice actor that could match him is Billy West.
I thought this was a pretty cool picture. What memories do you have of some of the characters that he has voiced?

You trying to tell me you didn't hear that shriek? That was something trying to get out of its premature grave, and I don't want to be here when it does. - Phantom of the Paradise (1974)

Great thread idea! :D Mel Blanc is a national treasure. I love all his characters, but I guess I'd have to say Bugs is my favorite. My second favorite voice is probably Elmer Fudd's, but actually that's one of the very few that he did not do, I believe.

Have you seen the hour long documentary on him? I watched it on YouTube back a couple of years ago and it was very good. I remember his saying at one point that Yosemite Sam was the most difficult voice he did because he had to shout in such a way that it hurt his throat.
