Porky Pig 101

Post by dachshundonstilts »

Recently released is this massive 5-DVD set from Warner Archive, featuring the complete chronological Porky Pig cartoons all the way up to the end of the black-and-white era! It's indispensable stuff for the armchair Looney Tunes historian. Highly recommended.

Awesome!! I would love that.
You trying to tell me you didn't hear that shriek? That was something trying to get out of its premature grave, and I don't want to be here when it does. - Phantom of the Paradise (1974)

The Film Fan (1939) where Porky (apparently a kid, which I did not know!) is sent to the store and makes a detour to the movies. There are a lot of Easter eggs in this one. Make sure you read the signs in the background!

That one's pretty funny (though I think I probably missed the Easter eggs you're referring to). Some of the humor reminds me a lot of the type seen in the title cards of Sennett films in the '20s.

Porky doesn't have a lot to do in this one. He's just kind of along for the ride in the series of gags. :)

On the signs it says looney Toons are playing, that's one I remember specifically.
