Here we are - this is the official thread for the Silent Photoplay Watch-Fest! With a little help from Clara Bow, I even threw together a hasty Photoshop announcement image!

During the Watch-Fest, we'll be viewing ten films from 1920 for 2020. The watchlist is based on the ten top grossing films from 1920. Four of them, however, are lost or otherwise unavailable for viewing, so these "gaps" were filled in with other films from 1920. We will go down the list and will watch each one over the course of seven days. After viewing a film, it's discussion time! We can share our thoughts on the cast, the story, fun facts about production... anything goes!

Below is the watchlist. I tried finding the highest quality uploads I could on YouTube, and should all have a score. Be sure to set the video to the highest quality possible. Films currently being watched will be in a larger, bolded red font.

I'm watching Way Down East right now and the best part of the film so far is 34:38 - 35:08.

Thanks guys! I just wanted to start a fun little silent film activity for everyone :)

I first saw Way Down East years ago; I think I was only around twelve or thirteen. I can't wait to see how different my perspective on this film will be as an adult.

Richard Barthelmess was a real cutie. I'm not sure if I've seen him in anything else than Broken Blossoms... I haven't seen that film in so long, but it's hard to believe it's the same man!

Yes, he was so charming in this film. I loved his performance.
