Found: The Pill Pounder (1923)

Post by BettyLouSpence »

This obscure comedy two-reeler starring Charles Murray and Clara Bow was rediscovered last year in a stack of films bought for $20 in an Omaha parking lot. The filmmaker who bought it later sold it to David Stenn. It'll be shown at the San Francisco Silent Film Festival in April.'

This is the plot summary given on IMDb:
Charlie is a small town druggist trying to wait on trade and play a social game of poker in the back room.
As you can imagine, I am positively giddy at the news. I have never come across The Pill Pounder in any of Clara's filmographies; I actually first thought it was an alternative name for a different film of hers. I wonder how many of two reelers she did...
I wish my life was a non-stop Hollywood movie show
a fantasy world of celluloid villains and heroes
Because celluloid heroes never feel any pain
and celluloid heroes never really die...

Amazing, especially since it wasn't in her filmographies!
You trying to tell me you didn't hear that shriek? That was something trying to get out of its premature grave, and I don't want to be here when it does. - Phantom of the Paradise (1974)
