Hmmm that is a cool image! Curiously, when you search Google for the image, the picture doesn't match anything. Pretty anyway!

I love these photos from the 1890s of a couple being giggly while having their portraits taken. These were real, living breathing humans, not just images on paper. :)

I love old photos. I am constantly doing research on my genealogy and am always searching through old Civil War soldier photos, trying to find a few relatives. I know which battles they were in and a lot of other details, so it makes searching kinda fun.

Anyway here is a place to find thousands and thousands of photos. The Library of Congress digital collections. Wowzer! all in total is something over 800,000 photos in all the collections, a person could spends days and weeks on this site!

That's awesome! I have a picture that has deteriorated of an unknown group of soldiers. I can send it to you if you'd like.

I appreciate the offer, but wouldn't dream of taking something from a collection of yours. And I'm only looking for soldiers from a specific company and regiments. The Illinois 36th Volunteer Infantry, Company A and Company H.

I don't have the letter in my possession, but I did find a Civil War letter on-line, written by my great great grandfather home to his sister. It was sold to a collector on-line and I have been in contact with the man who thinks he might have bought, he has a huge collection of stuff. I have no clue where the letter was originally and who sold it.
And I have since found a whole bunch of my family who was also looking for their great great grandfather, who just happened to be my great great grandfather. Between the two of us cousins, we were able to fill in a whole lot of blanks and answer questions we have had all of our lives.

On-line sleuthing is really a lot of fun.

Yeah, that's when they shipped out the syrup in crockery jugs for drugstore fountains to mix with carbonated water before serving. I wonder what the date of that bottle is.

Looks like it's after 1906. That's what the year on the food and drug act statement on the bottom says.
