Here's an awesome panorama of Pittsburgh in 1908. So much to look at in this picture!

You trying to tell me you didn't hear that shriek? That was something trying to get out of its premature grave, and I don't want to be here when it does. - Phantom of the Paradise (1974)
Re: Vintage Photos at Random
That is an great photo. I'm continually amazed at how they had the infrastructure and technology to go that high with the buildings in 1908. Wouldn't you like to go back in time and stroll around?
Over on the right side, I wonder what that row of pointed objects is atop the hill off in the distance to the left of Bailey-Farrell.

I'd love to look around and walk along the street in this picture!
I posted that wondering under the photo. Hopefully someone can answer!

Cool! Thanks! Isn't that strange the way they're jammed together like that with nothing but bare ground surrounding them. I wonder if any of those are still there. In fact, I wonder how many of the buildings period in that photo are still there. It would be interesting to see a 2018 photo made from the exact same perspective.

I thought this one was cool! (No pun intended!) Children enjoying a huge block of ice during a heat wave. I've seen 1910, 1911, 1912, and 1927 as cited years for this picture.

That's a great one! You don't see many photographs from that era that look so much a frozen instant in time as this one does. It would be interesting to know the year accurately. I would rule out '27 due to the man with the bowler and beard. That would have been very unusual in the late '20s. I wonder what "fancy cheap groceries" are exactly?

Babe Ruth was knocked unconscious after he ran into a concrete wall at Griffith Stadium, Washington, D.C., while trying to catch a foul ball on July 5, 1924." National Photo Company glass negative.
