I have lots to say, but it will come later when I'm at a computer. Get ready!

You're falling down. I expected some clarification.

That sounds ominous!

My only guess is that the ladies love it
because it's described as man-sized?

First of all, is it "man-sized" or "king-sized"? Is this a king with all his garb on, or just a plain king in his jammies?
The idea that a man can crawl through it "if there were an opening in the back" is kind of creepy. In fact, this idea would be a fantastic opportunity for an older sibling to tease a younger sibling with; walking by it at night could be a frightening experience for a little kiddo, knowing the sales pitch that is being peddled here.
P.S. - Wondering what L&H stands for? Of course you are! It stands for Lawrence and Hanson, which has its roots in Australia.
I don't think I've ever heard of this company, though there are some huge companies of which I have never heard. It seems still to be in business. Neato, huh?!

Thank you for your analysis. :lol:I concur with you on the creepiness factor. And yes, that would be good bait for a younger sibling. I hope L&H's ads have improved.
Well, since the subject is strange appliance ads, how about this one from 1952?

And I bet you didn't even know they had aerosol cans back then.

Funny! I googled, and it says it's from a 1964 Spencer's Gifts Christmas ad.

Shucks, that means it's no longer available, I guess.
What I'm wondering is how Cleo's secret got all the way from ancient Egypt to Spencer's in 1964?
