1919 to 1921, according to some info I found. 50¢ in 1920 would be about $5.07 in today's currency, so not so out of line, I guess. Apparently, this company got into some trouble with the FDA because of the alcoholic content. And apparently they prominently mention "whiskey" in the ad in case anyone fails to get the idea. ;)
