I honestly thought it was an ice pack at first! but at closer look I realized it was a hat of some sort.
Unbelievable Ads
Re: Unbelievable Ads
You trying to tell me you didn't hear that shriek? That was something trying to get out of its premature grave, and I don't want to be here when it does. - Phantom of the Paradise (1974)
Re: Unbelievable Ads
This doesn't have a picture, but there are testimonies!. Oh, yes, nothing says "It works!" better than a handful of unverified testimonies that are probably the concoction of the author of the advert. Look---It will even put the color back into your hair!
I've never seen a hair restoration ad quite like this one.
I wonder how successful the ad was; if you cut off the coupon provided, that would cut out part of the answers section, which continues on the other side of the ad.

Boy, that's the stuff isn't it? When they make some claims, they don't mess around. Notice that, conveniently, none of the first names of testifiers are given.
Re: Unbelievable Ads
Interesting! I didn't read the entire thing, so I did not notice that when I skimmed it.

Look here - they were still making this stuff in the '40's. I wonder how they got away with it that long? But notice that the claims have been toned down.

Re: Unbelievable Ads
Here's another one for Sygol. I think it's so ridiculous that on one page they have this one,
and on another they have this one,
I understand that they had to pay for their magazine, but MY GOODNESS! Have some consistency, a la Good Housekeeping, where they always gave their ads their seal of approval. HUFF!
We now bring you back to your regularly scheduled program.

This one's really weird. I didn't even know Carters ever made anything other than baby clothes.
