This kid's face is hilarious in both pictures.
You mean because it is rather fake?

I looked up cigarette hangover, and still am not sure what it is!
I think the wording is interesting on this where it says 'tune in CBS'. I usually hear it as 'tune in to CBS' for example.

I hadn't noticed that. It may be a holdover from the radio days. I've heard a "the" put before the network before, too. I remember that in the Orson Welles 1938 War of the Worlds broadcast, he refers to the network as "the CBS"—which sounds ok when you say "Columbia Broadcasting System", but odd (to us, anyway) when it's just the letters.

The use of the article the can vary in strange ways. I have a friend from California, and out there they put a "the" in front of highway numbers. When referring the Highway 29, she'll say "you travel north on the 29". And the British (and I think Canadians?) eliminate the the in phrases like "in the hospital".

Now I'm so off track, I forgot what thread this was... :P

Yes! I've noticed hospital. Have you seen the snl skit the Californians? It perfectly illustrates what you're saying about the highway numbers.

 That's really funny! No, I hadn't seen it before. And they were trying so hard not to break up.

I'm glad you liked it. I had to watch the whole thing first to make sure there was nothing inappropriate in it.

Really interesting CompuServe ad from over 30 years ago. Wow! They knew exactly where the internet was going.
