You trying to tell me you didn't hear that shriek? That was something trying to get out of its premature grave, and I don't want to be here when it does. - Phantom of the Paradise (1974)

I thought this full page ad was absolutely beautiful!

That is a beautiful one, indeed. And interestingly directed by Edwin August.

From Sept. 1948 Popular Science.

So, what I'm trying to figure is: why does a certain exhaust sound make girls come over and lean on your fender? I've seen lots of ads for "deep-toned" mufflers in PS's of this vintage—must have been a status thing in the 40's. ...M-M-M...M-M-M...

Ok, so this might be uninteresting to the men here, but to me, it was a really interesting ad. I've never seen such a detailed ad for sanitary napkins. I also love the wording here. They try to avoid any embarrassing or 'inappropriate' descriptive words to advertise their product. Here is an ad from Photoplay magazine, 1932.

A little hard to make read the text, but from what I can make out, it looks pretty heavy on the pocketbook! I wonder if that ensemble is really representative.

I'm not sure if it's a vintage ad or not. They are pretty high prices.

This one caught my eye. You don't (I mean, I don't) really think about the fact that they would have needed this obvious aid for the film projection.

How about this one? All this guy (if it really is him) succeeds to do is creep me out with his unsettling stare. "Write at once while you are sure to get a copy." Yeah, before the law gets him on false advertising and swindling.
