Re: Magazine Ads
Here are some more from Black Cat Hosiery. It seems like it was pretty popular. I wonder why they're no longer around?

You trying to tell me you didn't hear that shriek? That was something trying to get out of its premature grave, and I don't want to be here when it does. - Phantom of the Paradise (1974)
Re: Magazine Ads
Ah, if only they wrote poetry for ads nowadays. On second thought, I'm not sure I'd want to read what kind of poetry would be written now.
I noticed they advertised "Mercerized" products, whatever that means. That seems to be a term you see only in older ads.
Maybe the company failed to keep up with newer materials like elastic, nylon, etc.

Re: Magazine Ads
Thanks for forcing me to learn something new!
mercerized:
treat (cotton fabric or thread) under tension with caustic alkali to increase its strength and give it a shiny, silky appearance.

Well, I just learned something, too. I don’t think they do that anymore, do they? I’ve not seen that in any modern-day ads. Or maybe they still actually have that kind of cloth, but just don’t use the term. Anyway, it sounds cool.

LOVE that portrait of Alice Joyce. I'd have ordered one.
Re: Magazine Ads
I'd have ordered ALL those photos advertised. So so cool.
