How about that! Is there like a certain amount of text on the backs of each one? And regular playing cards on the obverses?
One one side there are pictures.

Here is the first card that tells the story.

I see! That’s quite interesting—never seen anything like it. Thanks for the photos. I like the line illustrations that are around the edges of the text.

Looking at the box, I get the idea there must have been other books done as well.

I didn't think of that! You must be right.

YAYYYY!

Finally got my copy of Moving Pictures: How They Are Made And Worked.

So excited. It literally came from England, although it said it was coming from Florida. So I had to wait almost 3 weeks, but here it is.

This is a later paperback edition of a 1907 book I acquired a few years ago because the internet had finally caught up with my late grandfather’s memory. It was probably a good 30 years ago that the title phrase cropped up in his mind and he couldn’t for the life of him recall where he remembered it from.

Haven’t read it yet but thought I’d share it because of this cool Art Deco cover, with the image flipped on the reverse.

There was a film based on it in 1914, but it's now lost.

Cool! Let us know how it is. So, what were the circumstances that your grandfather remembered the phrase, if he didn't remember where he'd heard it?

He was the kind who would just have a phrase or a quote pop into his head out of nowhere and wrestle with it for weeks trying to figure out where it was from. For that matter, so is my dad. For that matter, so am I.
