Beautiful Ads
Re: Beautiful Ads
Two interesting early Coke ads. The expressions on their faces are kind of strange, aren't they? Also, interesting that Coke swiped Maxwell House's slogan—or was it the other way round?

Re: Beautiful Ads
I really love those.
I think Maxwell House did steal that slogan. The first time "Good to the last drop" was used by Maxwell House, it was 1917, and if the date on these are correct, Coca Cola used the slogan at least ten years before that.
In looking this up, I learned that Maxwell House claimed that Teddy Roosevelt first coined the slogan. Of course, this is now unverifiable, but a pretty cute legend.

That's strange, isn't it? Maybe the Postal Service acted as a contact for AT&T? If so, can't imagine why.
Re: Beautiful Ads
I said I'd take a picture of it, and finally did. It was inside my Thomas Moore book from 1883. The book had a bunch of cool things stuffed in the pages. Here it is, front and back. I'm thinking this isn't an ad, but maybe the packaging material.

Certainly a poetic and picturesque label for that material!

Claudia? That's kind of the way I picture her looking. And she is drinking a Coke...
