Here's a cigar ad, 1880s.

You trying to tell me you didn't hear that shriek? That was something trying to get out of its premature grave, and I don't want to be here when it does. - Phantom of the Paradise (1974)

Wow! Some of these advertising teams really knew how to evoke a pleasing image on the brain! This was labeled year 1919.

I like those ads. I used to smoke—sometimes cigars, but more often a pipe. I quit a long time ago for health reasons, but I still miss that aromatic fragrance of good pipe tobacco. Well, come to think of it, I used to use a Kodak, too. :)

I like the way the illustrator of the Kodak one has vignetted the scene by leaving the lines incomplete on the edges.

And do you notice how narrow the car is? They really were that narrow. I remember being amazed the first time I ever saw an antique Ford up close and how tiny the cab was. The driver and passenger were practically sitting in each other's laps. But I guess some makes and models were larger than others.

I didn't take notice of how narrow the car was. I've never seen one in person. Yes, the more expensive models probably were bigger! Its funny the stuff you only think about when it's pointed out to you!

Here's a rather bossy pamphlet from a bank. Look! Even women and girls can join! They seem desperate. This is at least 1914, as the building was finished that year.

From 1901....Christmas Chimes! Includes a depressing Christmas story as a bonus. Santa is pictured four times, though, so all is forgiven.

A pretty one from 1920. This is the first I've heard the word 'gimcracks'.
