Maybe this isn't strange to you, but it sure is to me! KFC (yes, Kentucky Fried Chicken!) put out 3 records in 68/69 for the holiday season. These were Christmas Eve With Colonel Sanders, Christmas Day With Colonel Sanders, and Christmas With Colonel Sanders. At first I thought they were Christmas songs sung by the colonel, but they're not! They're beloved Christmas songs as a promotion for KFC.

Re: Strange Record Covers
You trying to tell me you didn't hear that shriek? That was something trying to get out of its premature grave, and I don't want to be here when it does. - Phantom of the Paradise (1974)
Re: Strange Record Covers
Yes, I'd say that meets the criteria for strangeness. Although it seems kind of cool that stores and restaurants did those kinds of things. But I'm glad the Colonel isn't singing.
Re: Strange Record Covers
I was disappointed, but I think I'll lean the same way and say it's all for the best.

Here's one of a similar type put out by Firestone Tire Co. I think my mother had one of these, or something similar.

I, too, love those types of things. Promotional merchandise is intriguing!

Re: Strange Record Covers
Yes, it is. I just happened to think: I used to have one of these LP's. I think I got as a discard from a public library one time. It was a variety music album sponsored by the Heinz 57 brand. (Sorry for poor images—I swiped these from an ebay listing. )
