I love learning about mascots, especially little-known ones! Do you remember "Speedy" from Alka-Seltzer?

Yes! :D See my reply on the commercial thread.

Here's a different kind of mascot - Mr. Zip. He was brought in by the post office back in the '60's to publicize the new zip code and urge everyone to use it. By the way, ZIP stands for Zone Improvement Plan. (I threw that in for free. ;) )

Cool! I never knew about Mr. Zip! I did know about Zone Improvement Plan, but I probably couldn't have told you that if you'd asked me!

Sailor Jack and his trusty dog Bingo who were introduced in 1916!

I bought a bag of Cracker Jacks the other day (couldn't find a box) and was dismayed to see that the prize is just directions to download an app on your phone. Further investigation revealed that on 2016 they replaced the physical prize with some baseball app. This is what my bag looked like.

Bummer! We want *real* prizes! I think Bingo and Sailor Jack have been updated, too. That's another interesting thing, how mascots morph over the years. I saw an illustration somewhere of how the girl on the Morton Salt container has changed over the years.

I looked that up, and it's pretty interesting! The company no longer exists, but there are still some stores that bear the name and make the donut.
