He's saluting the Happy Motorists who are utilizing Esso's services. :D

I've seen other gas station ads from that era where the attendant is saluting the customer, though I somehow doubt that happened too often in real life. :) I guess they just wanted the customer to think he'd be appreciated there.

And now, how about a Mr. Drop container for...something? (Household oil? Mustard?)

Wow! They really marketed him, didn't they? Did you know the company was called Esso (now Exxon) because of the original name of the company, Standard Oil? Love reading on the histories of companies!

I totally agree some products need an overhaul.

I've always loved the red flying horse.

That second page is an interesting view of the Mobil Pegasus. I never really thought about it's being red.

I like that. :D I wonder if they were inspired by the Keystone Cops. And look at the cool bottle label and carton.
