I'm not sure I understand this one. How come a shoe, mirror, soldier, and light bulb are the "lead party"?

Are these all things that have lead in them? If not, I don't know the answer! This is a very cool image! This is the cover for a coloring book, though.

Yes, a cover rather than an ad. I assume this must have been a giveaway to promote Dutch Boy paint, which would have contained lead at that time. But a lead party?? Yes, maybe those items all contained lead. They are cool illustrations, at any rate, especially the light bulb.

Doesn't it kind of remind you of those intermission ads from a drive in theater?

Yes! :D I love those kinds of illustrations for some reason.

Ok, here’s the rest of the story of the lead party, with some more personified objects herein:

I think they're talking along these lines. This is a two in one! An unbelievable ad and a possible answer to the cellophane reference.

:o Man...those give me the creeps. :(
So cellophane must have a new miracle invention at that time. Better living through science. :)

That lead ad/coloring book is very creepy, knowing what we know now.

Well, look at this gem. The tiny print on the bottom right says, "We're tobacco men... not medicine men. OLD GOLD cures just one thing: the world's best tobacco. And now you can enjoy the same famous OLD GOLD blend in both Regular and King size."

 I'm trying to figure out whether this ad means:
1. Smoking has some health benefits, but we don't care about that—we're just making it taste the best we can. Or:
2. They say smoking harms your health, we say hogwash, smoke and enjoy it.

Also, what does the tape measure have to do with it? :D
