Here is an installment of the monthly I'd Like to See Them Make feature from 1946. I thought the self-lighting cigarette was the worst idea I'd ever seen—until I saw the overpass truck. I think that's got it beat.

Yikes, they paid five dollars for these suggestions?? The overpass one is ridiculous. And the subway one.... Wouldn't you hear it coming? Why the need for blinkers?

I always enjoy reading the correspondence school ads in the old PS mags. They were usually in comic strip form that told a little story.

This is from an April 1961 article on the author's experience restoring a 1923 radio. That's Baby Peggy, I believe, operating the Federal. Man, that's one complicated-looking radio!

I somehow missed that correspondence one. That's cute!

That sure is the instantly recognizable Baby Peggy! I wonder if the other two are silent actors, or if they are models?
