April Stevens at 93
You may have read my posts about Nino Tempo and his sister April Stevens in the music section. I only recently learned that April died on April 17, 2023, in Scottsdale, Arizona, just 12 days short of her 94th birthday. Born Caroline LoTempio, she began her recording career at age 22 in 1951 and caused some scandal with her suggestive 1959 hit "Teach Me Tiger," subsequently reinventing herself as half of a brother-sister act in the Sixties. The pair won the Grammy for Best Rock and Roll Song of 1963 with their retread of the old standard "Deep Purple."
