The iconic songwriter who gave the '60's so much of its softer sounds.

According to Wikipedia, Bacharach's songs have been recorded by more than 1,000 different artists. At the time of his death, he had written seventy-three U.S. and fifty-two UK Top 40 hits.

One of my favorite things the Carpenters did was the medley of his hits:

Truly one of the great songwriters of his era.

Around 1989 I read an article where the author figured there were only 5 living musicians who could give a two-hour concert consisting of nothing but hit songs written by them... Burt Bacharach, Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder, Bob Dylan, and Brian Wilson. Bacharach is the first of those we've lost.
