Yes, I think the general public doesn't realize how much his music meant to people. All of his personal issues aside, his music meant the world to millions. He literally invented metal, and rock wouldn't be what it is today if it weren't for him. You'd be hard pressed to find one metal artist (or rock, for that matter) today to say that he wasn't one of their top inspirations for getting them into music. What a legacy!
