Most interesting! I'm surprised there was this much opposition to smoking this early on. Though I will say that the reasons they give lack the gravity of what was known later (although Professor Parkes does seem to hint at it with his "impairs bodily activity, and in some way must damage the circulation or the composition of the blood"—but without giving specifics.) And the "waste of money" reasons I don't think would have been that convincing to adolescent boys wanting to look cool. :)

Here's a strange poem from Chatterbox.

And, the famous May Queen by Alfred Tennyson. :)

That is a strange one, indeed. I suppose it's meant to be amusing, considering the cause of Jacque's death (?) And Bo-Peep was awfully willing to do herself in over a man she'd only known a few hours. :)

Here is the article that I mentioned in the instructional film section when we watched Understanding Your Ideals (1950).

I'm glad you liked it! I have a heavy handed one about temperance coming soon. 🙂

That was interesting! I wonder if the person sitting at the table is actually a corporeal being, or imstead the "ghost" of memories past.
I wish my life was a non-stop Hollywood movie show
a fantasy world of celluloid villains and heroes
Because celluloid heroes never feel any pain
and celluloid heroes never really die...

It can be whatever you like! I'm encouraged by your thoughts; I think I'll do some more short freewriting in the future.
