Vacation Pictures

Post by Kitty » Wed Aug 30, 2017 1:47 pm

We stayed in a cabin in the mountains of North Georgia this past week to see the eclipse. I wanted to share a few pictures!

There was a pool table and a cool arcade machine with many games on it. (My favorite was Galaga.) These pictures are of the view from the bedroom, and of course the sunset. We couldn't have asked for better weather the entire time we were there. We have lots more pictures if you're interested in seeing them! Just let me know, and I'll post them.

Beautiful! You had a really pretty weather. I see you went to Helen as well. :D

We went over to Dahlonega last weekend and took a day trip over to Amicalola State Park and Falls. We ended up hiking from the base of the falls all the way almost to the top of Springer Mountain. (I logged 24,000 steps on my Fitbit :) .)
I have some pictures on my phone, but I'm sure they are not as nice as yours. If there are any decent ones, I'll post them.

...saying a prayer for everybody down that way, especially the folks on the Gulf coast.

Yeah we got so lucky with the weather. That last day when we were leaving it rained. Yes, please post any pictures you want to share! I'd love to see them.

In Disney's Hollywood Studios there is a store called Keystone Clothiers, a souvenir shop. It's cool that they still pay homage to the silent era, although I noticed that some of it is falling by the way side.

What do you mean by falling the wayside? It doesn't seem to be doing as much business?

I meant that in Hollywood Studios (which used to be called MGM) they are pushing the later nostalgia like the 50s instead of the 20s. For example, one shop used to have silent film star pictures on the walls, and now there are only a couple. There also used to be a replica of a poster of Sidewalks of New York with Buster Keaton in a shop, but it's not there anymore. In a window there used to be a Casablanca poster, as well, and it is no longer there.

Oh, that's too bad. I wonder why?—as there seems to be more interest in silent films now over a few years ago, or at least more awareness—more books being written, more websites, more younger people being introduced to them (although still only a tiny minority). Or maybe that's just my warped perception? Anyway... That's a beautiful art deco design the store has. That is a nice Snow White window display, as well.
