There are a lot of interesting Christmas-related shorts, many of them very early. I thought it would be good to start with the very first appearance of Santa Claus on film from 1898 (or technically Father Christmas, since it's a British film). This has both the original followed by a colorized version. See which you prefer.

Here is a fascinating early Griffith Biograph. The opening scenes are definitely on the dark side, but things turn cheerier later on.

Here's another holiday favorite of mine, the Edison film A Winter Straw Ride (1906). This one always fills me with delight. The score here is not my favorite, but ok.
