Voices of the Fans!
Re: Voices of the Fans!
That is charming and sweet letter, indeed.
Re: Voices of the Fans!
These are all great letters! I doubt that Clara honored his request, though. I think it's way too 'asky' as they call it.

A letter from Photoplay's Brickbats and Bouquets about the censorship of Variety, tagged for spoilers. I hope Bessie Alice eventually got to see the full version, somehow!

Interesting—thanks for posting. She makes a good point about the theme of retribution.

Hopefully not in the fast food and restaurant industries...
Btw, I'm 99.9% sure that I managed to find a Find-A-Grave profile for Bessie Alice! Name completely matches up, the birth date would make her 19 when she sent this letter in, and her birthplace of Baltimore, Maryland is also the address for the letter. No pictures unfortunately, but we know her father was a naturalized citizen from Panevėžys, Lithuania, she had three siblings, and she was 75 when she passed in 1982.
So cool that her voice lives on through that published letter!

Woo! Edith is a Sappy Sue! Yes, I just made that up.

Hey, that's a good one! I'm going to remember that.
Wow, this gal is quite a critic, huh? She's got the goods on everybody. I wonder what she meant by the part about Corinne Griffith having a pain in the neck?

Re: Voices of the Fans!
I've noticed these sorts of comments about Corinne quite a few times in fan mags. The way Corinne posed, she would often look like she was in a trance/daydream of sorts (half lidded eyes, slightly ajar mouth, neck tilted to the side, looking away from the camera). Sometimes people would jest that she looked bored
Oh, and I am definitely going to be using Sappy Sue as well. We're really coining our own little lingo on this here board, aren't we?!
