Watched this Douglas Fairbanks "Coke Ennyday" short last night (albeit with a different soundtrack). With all the drug-abuse humor, it almost feels like a film that belongs in the 1970's or 80's. (Wonder what sort of rating it would get today.) And the ending couldn't help reminding me of Daffy Duck's "The Scarlet Pumpernickel" from 1950. I did sort of like the oblique parody of Sherlock Holmes, with all the checkered stuff.

Yes! I believe I have watched this before. I'd like to watch it again, as I remember not really understanding it fully because if it's oddness.

Just realized this came out the same year as the film version of William Gillette’s Sherlock Holmes. Wonder which was first.
