Favorite photos of silent stars
Re: Favorite photos of silent stars
Interesting! Yes, I know who James Barrie is, but I've never seen Male and Female.
You trying to tell me you didn't hear that shriek? That was something trying to get out of its premature grave, and I don't want to be here when it does. - Phantom of the Paradise (1974)
Re: Favorite photos of silent stars
My beloved Buster for this lovely morning!
I was in Magic Kingdom yesterday and today Hollywood Studios! Super exciting day!
ExtraFunFact: Did you know that in the train station in the Magic Kingdom there are 4 ACTUAL Mutoscope Biograph machines??? I got to use 2 of them. 1 needed fixing and the other wasn't on, but I got to see 2 cute films by turning a crank watching the pictures go by. One is called Untrained Rider and the other was called Play Cowboy. Oh, I was in Heaven!
When I go again I will take pictures.

These were original machines and not reproductions?
Re: Favorite photos of silent stars
I really think they are original. It is so neat!!! I'm going to ask a cast member next time about them. It actually says mutoscope Biograph co. And a little copyright note on it. I wish I had known it earlier so I could have thought to get pictures.

Yes, I like the style and color combination of this.
Re: Favorite photos of silent stars
I wonder what exactly is a "super production". REALLY makes me want to see it, now!

So far, most of the pictures of Maurice Costello in Motion Picture Story Magazine are either the same exact picture, or stills from photoplays. This is a different one. I like that he is so recognizable. I always know that it is him!
Here he is, from the January 1913 issue of Motion Picture Story Magazine.
