Mabel was one of my first favorites, and I know I made that comment.

You trying to tell me you didn't hear that shriek? That was something trying to get out of its premature grave, and I don't want to be here when it does. - Phantom of the Paradise (1974)

I didn't know that, either.
If I remember correctly (and that's a big if, it was a long time ago), this came up in a thread where someone (was that you??) posted a modern picture of a girl that resembled Mabel, and there was some discussion about how much they did/did not look like each other.
Somewhere in the basement of my computer I've got that picture (I think). I'm going to go on a treasure hunt and see if I can dig it out.

Huh. That actually rings a bell. I think I remember that thread. It was a commercial and the Mabel look alike was cheering in the stands at a hockey game, right?

I doubt that one was me. You sure have a good memory of those things, though!

Betty Lou is the one with the memory. I didn't remember it was in the stands at a hockey game.
Here 'tis. Look familiar? What do you think? The date on this, by the way, is June 18, 2009. Tempus, it sure does fugit.

Yep, that's the hockey game one! I must be remembering a revival of that thread, though.

It's that time of year again! A shared vamp/flapper birthdayBettyLouSpence wrote: ↑Wed Jul 29, 2020 6:41 pmDid you know that Theda Bara and Clara Bow share a birthday? Today they'd be 135 and 115 respectively. Here are two of my favorite photos of them, both pretty casual ones:
